The Paper Collar Pickers and The GoTwos

(AEST, UTC+10) (AEST, UTC+10)

Petersham bowling club, 77 Brighton st Petersham, Sydney

The Papercollar Pickers are Rod Vervest and Craig Sinclair, two musicians hailing from WA’s south coast, who share a common love for ragtime guitar, close vocal harmonies and Albany’s granite coastline. This likely pair came together in 2010 to provide the rhythmic engine room for popular WA acoustic stringband the Pepperjacks, honing their tasty dual thumb-picking arrangements and single microphone technique. Now on opposite sides of the country (they are both inter-generational and inter-jurisdictional) they reunite in happy moments to celebrate the old stories, the old tunes and the mighty right thumb of old Big Bill Broonzy. The Go Twos (Rosie & Nigel) are both well established in the Folk and festival scene, having played in numerous bands and line ups, apart and together. It is the music they play together that shines with an intimate and heartfelt intensity that shimmers in the ether between performer & listener. Rosie and Nigel draw upon the rhythmic and melodic lines that weave through the folk tradition and present their own material which they are currently recording for their debut CD. Their music is a joyful antidote to current hard times.

We Mavericks - Musical twins and mavericks besides, they’re folk that resembles everything else: Bringing challenging originals, entertaining stories and incredible energy, this new duo packs emotional punches but have songs to heal the scars.

Originally from the NSW Riverina and NZ respectively, Lindsay Martin’s masterful strings and vocal meets songstress Victoria Vigenser’s magnificent voice and driving rhythms in a connection that is hard to describe. They're known already for uniquely gritty, evocative songs with echoes of their love for Americana and Celtic traditional music amongst the harmonies.

Coming together for just a handful of performances in 2018, audiences gave the duo no choice but to continue. Their original collaboration has been making a bold mark on both sides of the Tasman after only a couple of years performing - a steep and fast rise to Australasian festivals and shows has seen the duo selected as a showcase artist for Folk Alliance International 2022, nominated “Te Kaipuoro Taketake Toa | Best Folk Artist” 2022 and 2020 in the Aotearoa (New Zealand) Music Awards, nominated “Best Contemporary Duo/Group/Ensemble” 2021 Australian Folk Music Awards, and the 2020 recipients of Australia’s Troubadour Foundation Award.

Antipodeans - Take 2 avid and mellifluous folk singers, add 2 top notch bluegrass instrumentalists in folk mode and press play! The initial spark, lit way back on a magic folk festival session , has come to fruition.. Antipodeans bring the joy of the folk song back into full focus with best loved and wild sourced ballads and tunes. The harmonic blending of voices and instruments gives a new insight and joyful interpretation of classic folk songs and originals .All band members are well known in the folk scene and beyond . For Folks Sake

Petersham bowling club, 77 Brighton st Petersham, Sydney

💥Sydney NOW presents FOR FOLK SAKE! 💥 ~ live original music on the first Thursday of the month ~ at The Petersham Bowling Club TICKETS ON SALE NOW VIA MOSHTIX - see linkWINTER STARLINGS Folk rock is a long-established sound, borne from the late 60s/early 70s explosion of transatlantic albums released by the likes of Fairport Convention, The Byrds, CSNY and more. Over the decades, the jangly guitars and freewheeling melodies have evolved and merged with the likes of indie rock, power pop and country to form the loose conglomerate that is Americana music. In 2022, Sydney group Winter Starlings draw on that rich history with the release of their second single, the jangly and propulsive, uplifting and optimistic burst of sunlight that is 'Arise'. Singer songwriter Robin Fitzgerald formed the alternate folk rock band in 2019 with seasoned fellow musicians Jack Dunn (electric guitar & vocals), Peter Marley (double bass & vocals) and Tony Bibby (drums) to bring his original material to life with a warm acoustic/electric feel and the group's trademark vocal harmonies. Their music has a diverse range of influences, from the iconoclast that is Neil Young to alternate folk & Americana artists such as Ryan Adams and Jason Isbell and great Australian storytellers and poets such as Paul Kelly and Dan Sultan. https://linktr.ee/winterstarlings

🌵 🌵 🌵 CHRISTOPHER MASON Growing up literally a stone’s throw away from the border of The Wollemi National Park in New South Wales, Australia, Christopher Mason was gifted boundless opportunity to wander and discover. A slow paced life, days were lost in thought and the creativity that an upbringing away from towns and cities brings. That creativity matured into a love for music and a passion for writing that has seen Chris travel the country performing and sharing stories. He is currently putting finishing touches on an album to follow up his 2019 EP, Merciful Arms. www.instagram.com/christophermasonmusic
